Xiao LIU is a Lecturer and mastersupervisor in School of Energy Science and Engineering. He obtained his master degree in 2008 from HPU and PhD degree from HPU in 2015. He has worked as a mining engineer and research scientist since 2005 in China.

Dr.Liu has worked in a wide range of mining Safety engineering,such as surface drainage of CMM,coal seam gas drainage and coal seam fracture stimulation.He has extensive experience in field and theoretical researches.Dr.Liu’s current focus is on coal seam fracture stimulation. The fracture stimulation is one of the key issues in energy sector, including coal mining, old, natural gas and shell gas industries.Particularly, due to low permeability of coal seam, the coal seam gas drainage presents enormous challenges for mine management in safety and productivity.He has supervised and participated more than 30 researches and consulting projects from National Natural Science Foundation and Coal Group Companies and etc.and gained 12 Provincial Prize on Science and Technology. He  co-authored 2 books and more than 30 journals and proceedings papers in the areas of coal seam gas drainage.He Won the Youth Science and Technology Prize of the China Coal Institute in 2016.

Current research interests:

Theoretical and technology research in coal seam fracture stimulation.
