Dr. Wenbing GUO, Dean of School of Energy Science and Engineering, Henan Polytechnic University (HPU), China, is a professor and doctoral supervisor in mining engineering program. He is also director of Henan Provincial Key Laboratory on Mineral Rsources High-efficiency Mining and Comprehensive Utilization. He received his master degree in 1994 from HPU and PhD degree from China University of Mining and Technology. In 2005~2006, as a visiting scholar, he ever studied in Department of Mining Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Syd. Peng in West Virginia University, U.S.A.

He has supervised more than 50 researches and consulting projects from National Natural Science Foundation and Coal Group Companies and etc. and gained 8 Provincial Prize on Science and Technology. He authored and co-authored 5 books and more than 100 journals and proceedings papers in the areas of mining subsidence, coal mine ground control, and underground pressure. He once went abroad to attend the international conferences or academic exchange in American, Australia, Germany, Brazil and etc.

Research interests: mainly on surface subsidence, strata movement and ground control.
